A recurring theme in My Hero Academia is that being a hero is not simply a matter of power, but the indomitable will to protect others. This is brought to the forefront when Lemillion fights to save Eri from Overhaul in the raid on the Shie Hassaikai compound. In truth, Mirio and Midoriya had the opportunity to save Eri from Overhaul's abuses much earlier, but chose to “play it safe” instead; a choice they both came to regret. Ultimately, the guilt of that decision pushes the two young heroes to resolve to save Eri at any cost, and for Lemillion, that cost is extremely high. While fighting Overhaul, Lemillion is struck by a bullet with a Quirk-Destroying drug. Quirkless, exhausted, and badly injured, Lemillion is undeterred and continues to both attack Overhaul and defend Eri. Against all odds, Mirio fights to save one little girl, even at the cost of his powers and his life. In this one scene, Lemillion shows us that being a hero isn’t a matter of might, but of heart. He makes us believe that Lemillion truly is the hero who will save a million.
