Hi we’re Dar and Tessa!

Anime is a huge part of our lives and our marriage. Dar’s journey with anime began with watching Dragon Ball Z on Toonami after school. While we were dating, Dar introduced Tessa to anime by showcasing Evangelion (Not a great start). Once she discovered Howl’s Moving Castle by Studio Ghibili, she kinda took a deep dive: all of Bleach, all of One Piece, and all of Naruto. She’s still not a fan of Evangelion but everyone has their preferences. Every weekend we look forward to watching the newest episodes of the shows we’re following that season. A common phrase in our household is “Ahhhhhh, thank God its Friday, we have anime!”

Our love of anime lead us to buy anime merch that would let us bring our favorite anime moments into everyday life.  To our surprise, it was easier said than done.  Not ONLY was is it hard to find the merch with moments that actually mean something, but it is also hard to find designs that are worthy of being worn. Not to mention that the quality of the anime products available  are questionable at best. 

That’s when the idea was born: Anime merch that encapsulates hype moments with fresh designs on quality products. 2 months later ShowNEN began. It was an idea that launched a business as a celebration of both our 8th wedding anniversary and love for anime.
